Garrett Smith

Garrett Smith is a dedicated professional in the field of mental health advocacy and community organizing, currently serving as a Statewide Organizer for the Center for Community Alternatives since May 2021, focusing on ending mass incarceration and criminalization in New York State. Previously, Garrett worked as an Advocacy Specialist 2 for the New York State Office of Mental Health, emphasizing the inclusion of mental health recipients and their families within the system. Garrett's experience also includes roles as a Regional Advocacy Specialist for the Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene and a Peer Support Specialist at East House, among others. Education includes a Certified Peer Specialist credential from the Academy of Peer Services and a focus on Sociology at Loyola University New Orleans.
