Nick Doty

Senior Technologist at Center for Democracy & Technology

Nick Doty is a seasoned technologist with extensive experience in technology policy and privacy. Currently serving as a Senior Technologist at the Center for Democracy & Technology since October 2021, Nick previously held the role of Director at the Center for Technology, Society & Policy from July 2015 to September 2016, where the focus was on multidisciplinary research addressing emerging social and policy issues related to technology. From April 2011 to 2015, Nick acted as a Privacy Analyst at the World Wide Web Consortium, facilitating the Tracking Protection Working Group and the Privacy Interest Group. Prior to this, teaching roles included Lecturer/Researcher at UC Berkeley School of Information and past experience as a Software Development Engineer in Test at Microsoft. Nick founded the Amherst Recording Council during time at Amherst College and holds a PhD and Master's in Information Science from UC Berkeley, along with a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Amherst College.
