Tanya Gulliver-Garcia is a seasoned professional in disaster philanthropy and social justice, currently serving as the Director of Advisory and Education Services at the Center for Disaster Philanthropy since September 2018. In this role, Tanya develops education programs focusing on philanthropic equity in disaster recovery and works with clients to generate donations for reputable response organizations. Tanya has held various significant positions including Assistant Director of Major Initiatives at the same organization, and a Career Pathways Fellow at the Council on Foundations in 2023. Previous roles include Associate Director of Programs and Planning at the Foundation for Louisiana, where Tanya oversaw disaster initiatives and coordinated grants management. An academic contributor as well, Tanya has taught courses on disasters and social justice at Tulane University and has authored major research reports within the Canadian Observatory on Homelessness. Tanya's educational background includes a PhD in Environmental Studies from York University, complemented by a master's degree and a bachelor's degree in relevant fields.
