Sherry H.

Sherry H. has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Sherry began their career as an Employee Relations Administrator at Irwin Seating Company in 1994 and later worked as a Human Resources Specialist at MINACT, Inc. (Department of Labor) from 1995 to 1998. Sherry then became an Employment Manager at Kent Community Hospital (Spectrum Health) from 1998 to 1999.

In 1999, Sherry H. transitioned to the role of Director of New Business Development at Axios Incorporated. Sherry then worked as a Senior Administrative Assistant/Communications Assistant (PR) at Smiths Aerospace (GE) from 2002 to 2003.

From 2003 to 2008, Sherry H. served as an Unemployment Supervisor at State of Michigan, Grand Rapids. Sherry then worked as an Unemployment Insurance Analyst (Federal Reporting) at State of Michigan, Detroit from 2008 to 2013.

In 2013, Sherry H. became a Veterans Service Officer-Office Manager at State of MI (U.S. Department of Vet. Affairs), where they handled claims before the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Continuing in the public sector, Sherry H. joined the U.S. Department of Labor in 2014 as an Unemployment Insurance Program Specialist. Their work included developing operating procedures, policy guidance, and automated systems for State UI programs. Sherry held this position until 2016 when they became a Federal Project Officer-Discretionary Grants at the U.S. Department of Labor. Sherry provided support for job training programs, housing grants, and other components.

In 2016, Sherry H. also took on the role of Executive Assistant (Project Manager) at the U.S. Department of Labor, where they participated in management planning, policy and decision-making sessions.

Throughout their career, Sherry H. has demonstrated their skills in project management, policy development, program administration, and counseling.

Sherry H. is currently pursuing a Doctorate degree in Community College Leadership at Ferris State University, with an expected completion date in 2024. Sherry also holds an MBA/MSM degree in Finance and Management from Cornerstone University. Sherry has further educational qualifications, including a Post BBA degree in Human Resources Management/Personnel Administration from Davenport University, a Diploma in Administrative Specialist from the same institution, and a BBA in Management from Northwood University.

In addition to their academic accomplishments, Sherry has obtained a certification as a National Diversity Council Certified Diversity Professional (NDCCP) from the National Diversity Council in August 2021.
