Center for Families and Relationships
Gwyn Shumar, MA, MFT, is a dedicated marriage and family therapist currently serving at the Center for Families and Relationships since February 2024. Previously, Gwyn worked at the same organization as a trauma therapist involved in the Together Through Trauma program, which focuses on gun violence prevention, from August 2020 to June 2023. Additional experience includes roles such as workshop facilitator, outpatient clinician at the Children's Crisis Treatment Center, care coordinator at Health Advocate, and shift supervisor at Starbucks. Gwyn holds a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy/Counseling from La Salle University and a Bachelor of Science in Marine Sciences from Eckerd College.

The mission of the Center for Families and Relationships is to strengthen and build resiliency in families by providing individual, family and couples counseling utilizing a holistic approach to treatment. We are partners in parenting, empowering members of the family to make a permanent, positive change towards becoming productive members of their own family and of our community as a whole.
