Maria Edith Martinez is an experienced behavioral health clinician currently employed at the Center for Human Services since April 2021. Prior to this role, Maria served as Program Supervisor and Lead Clinician at Sierra Vista Child & Family Services from February 2013 to March 2021, where responsibilities included managing the Family Resource Center program and overseeing staff training and evaluations. Maria’s earlier experience includes working as a Clinical Counselor Intern for the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, providing counseling to at-risk adolescents, and serving as an Adult Protective Services Coordinator at the Area Agency on Aging, managing cases for high-risk seniors. Maria’s career began as a Social Service Coordinator at Ironbound Community Corporation. Maria holds a Master of Social Work from Rutgers University–New Brunswick and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Northeastern Illinois University.

Center for Human Services opened in 1970 as Head Rest, a drop-in center for youth who needed support. Now, with over 250 paid staff, at least 100 volunteers, and operating budget of 12 million dollars, CHS serves over 20,000 clients a year through programs in the areas of shelter, juvenile justice services, mental health counseling, school-based services, family resource centers, and substance abuse prevention and treatment. Our services continue to support the youth and families of Stanislaus County. CHS has a long history here, and we do what we can in response to the needs of our community.
