Dorothy Kauffman

Chief Advancement Officer at Center for Jewish History

Dorothy Kauffman joined the Center for Jewish History as its first Chief Advancement Officer in 2023. To the challenge of strengthening and enriching CJH’s future, she brings an expertise in development, marketing, communications and strategic growth that was forged in both the global business and non-profit worlds. Her broad experience in development and engagement has included leadership roles at Birthright Israel, National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), the American Friends of London’s Royal Academy of Art and the Jerusalem Foundation. She began her career in the music world, where she was a producer and on-air personality at WQXR, leading to executive roles at BMG Entertainment and RosettaBooks, a pioneer in the field of digital publishing. A native of New York City, she holds an M.S. in Journalism from Columbia University, and M.B.A. in International Marketing with honors from Fordham University. She was awarded a B.A. in English with honors from Barnard College, where she was summa cum laude and named to Phi Beta Kappa.
