Caren Johnson

Deputy Director of Digital Products at Center for NYC Neighborhoods

Caren Johnson has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Beginning in 2006, they worked as a Literary Agent at Firebrand Literary, where they successfully sold literary projects for clients. From 2007 to 2012, they served as a Literary Agent at Johnson Lit Agency, Inc.

In 2012, Caren transitioned into the field of Quality Assurance, working as both a Freelance Quality Assurance Analyst and later as a Quality Assurance Analyst at Greater Than One from 2013 to 2014. Caren was responsible for reviewing site migrations and ensuring adherence to quality standards.

From 2014 to 2015, Caren worked at Williams Lea Tag as a Proofreader, where they checked digital and hard copy ads to ensure compliance with publication standards and maintained brand guidelines for multiple brands.

In 2015, they founded their own company, Johnson Books & Media, where they managed indie publishing projects for authors. Caren'srole included editing websites, media kits, and books, as well as handling quality assurance reviews and platform uploads.

Caren then held various project management roles starting in 2017. At Greater Than One, they were a Project Manager responsible for managing digital backlists and ensuring uniformity of metadata reports across platforms. Caren also worked as a Project Manager at Stonesong, handling metadata reports and submission packages for print-to-ebook conversions.

In 2018, Caren worked as a Technical Project Manager at 631Marketing, overseeing PPC/SEM/SEO campaign management and client communication. Caren also served as a Project Manager at The Clio Awards, coordinating releases and programming schedules, managing digital projects, and conducting QA reviews.

Most recently, Caren joined the Center for NYC Neighborhoods in 2019. Caren first worked as a Project Manager, gathering requirements, translating them into product specifications, and collaborating with design and CRM teams. Currently, they hold the position of Deputy Director of Digital Products, leading an internal team and maintaining relationships with funders for successful project delivery.

Throughout their career, Caren has demonstrated strong project management, quality assurance, and communication skills across various industries.

Caren Johnson obtained a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature/Letters from The City College of New York, where they studied from 2002 to 2006. Additionally, they have pursued various certifications in different fields, including executive leadership, agile project management, conducting SWOT analysis, technology for product managers, Jira administration, product management, Scrum, Amazon Web Services, and Jira software. These certifications were obtained from LinkedIn, with the most recent certifications being acquired in 2023.
