Wesley Tharpe

Senior Advisor For State Tax Policy at Center on Budget and Policy Priorities

Wesley Tharpe is a seasoned policy expert currently serving as Senior Advisor for State Tax Policy and previously as Deputy Director of State Policy Research at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities since November 2018. Prior to this role, Wesley spent over seven years at the Georgia Budget and Policy Institute as Research Director, overseeing analysis and advocacy on Georgia’s fiscal challenges, as well as serving as a Senior Policy Analyst and Policy Analyst focusing on tax and economic development issues. Wesley's earlier experience includes managing programs and communications for Realizing the Dream, Inc., and serving as a Research and Teaching Assistant at the Johns Hopkins Institute for Policy Studies. Wesley holds a Master of Arts in Public Policy from The Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Affairs from The University of Georgia.
