Centerboard
Machel Piper serves as the Director of Development at Centerboard since December 2023, following a tenure in the same position at North Shore Community Development Coalition from September 2016 to December 2023. During this time, Machel achieved an impressive 895% increase in overall individual, foundation, grant, and corporate giving and managed foundation and grant activities that saw a 459% growth. Prior to that, Machel held various roles at United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley, including Director of Community Impact, where significant collaborative initiatives were led. Machel's background also includes teaching positions and music instruction, with a notable impact on student performance, as well as experience in donor engagement and grant proposal writing in several organizations, including United Way of Southeast Louisiana. Machel possesses degrees in Elementary Education from St. Norbert College and the University of St. Thomas.

Centerboard is a community-based organization that supports families and young people through housing, access to employment, education and financial empowerment. We work with local residents, businesses, and elected officials to increase economic opportunity in the community. In addition, Centerboard is invested in Lynn’s creative economy by spearheading public art projects and running the non-profit gallery Visionspace. Through these efforts, we serve over 1,500 people each year. We believe communities thrive when you invest in people and places.
