Carol Ann Northcott

Chief Risk Officer (cro) at Central 1

Carol Ann Northcott has extensive work experience in risk management and financial stability. Carol Ann most recently worked at Central 1 as the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) starting in 2023. Prior to that, they were the Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer at the Bank of Canada from 2017 to 2022. From 2013 to 2016, they served as the Chief Risk Officer and VP Risk, Security, and Research at Payments Canada, where they were responsible for enterprise risk management and the development of clearing and settlement infrastructure policies. Before that, Carol Ann held various roles at the Bank of Canada from 1999 to 2009, including Senior Director of the Financial Stability Department, where they provided policy advice and oversaw systemically important payment systems.

Carol Ann Northcott completed a HBSc degree in Economics, Biology, and Psychology at the University of Toronto between 1992 and 1997. Carol Ann continued their education at the same university, earning a MA degree in Financial Economics from 1997 to 1999. In 2014, Carol pursued a Masters Certificate in Risk Management and Business Performance from the Schulich School of Business at York University, which they completed in 2015.
