James Yogo

Deputy Director, Cyber Security at Central Bank of Kenya

James Yogo has an extensive work experience in the field of cyber security. James is currently working as the Deputy Director of Cyber Security at the Central Bank of Kenya since October 2022. Prior to this role, they worked at Safaricom PLC for over 13 years, starting as a Principal Technology Security Officer in September 2009 and gradually progressing to the role of Head of Cyber Security from May 2019 to October 2022. Before joining Safaricom, they worked as a Networks/Systems Engineer at Jamii Telecommunications Ltd from September 2005 to September 2006.

James Yogo completed their Managers Development Program at Strathmore Business School (SBS) in 2015. James then pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Computer Science at the University of Nairobi from 2009 to 2012. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Science from Maseno University, which they completed between 2000 and 2005.

In addition to their formal education, James obtained several certifications. In 2018, they achieved the ITIL Managing Across the Life Cycle (MALC) certification from AXELOS Global Best Practice. In 2014, they earned the Prince II Practitioner certification from the same institution. Furthermore, they obtained the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certification from ISACA in 2012, and the Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA) certification in 2011, also from ISACA. Finally, they gained the Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) certification from Oracle in 2008.
