Burke Thompson

General Surgeon at Central Carolina Surgery

Dr. Thompson grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida. He received his undergraduate degree and medical degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa. He then completed his residency in general surgery at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Next, he completed a fellowship in trauma surgery and surgical critical care at the University of Miami. During that fellowship, Dr. Thompson also received a master’s degree in public health (MPH) which included research on injuries sustained in motor vehicle accidents. He is board certified by The American Board of Surgery in both general surgery and surgical critical care. He is the Associate Trauma Director for the Cone Health. In addition to general surgery and trauma surgery, Dr. Thompson’s interests include the surgical treatment of melanoma and sarcoma. He joined Central Carolina Surgery, in the summer of 2003 as a trauma surgeon, general surgeon and critical care specialist. He is currently accepting new patients.
