James Morgan III

General Surgeon at Central Carolina Surgery

Dr. James Morgan is a board certified general surgeon, whose practice includes a broad range of surgical procedures such as surgery of the GI tract, abdominal cancer surgery, complex hernia repairs, advanced laparoscopic surgery and endoscopy. His area of special interest is in surgery for the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. He has additional training in ultrasound and stereotactic minimally invasive breast biopsy, sentinel lymph node biopsy, and Mammosite radiation device placement.

Dr. Morgan graduated from Davidson College in 1984 and received his MD degree from the Marshall University School of Medicine in 1988. After completing his general surgery residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh in 1993, Dr. Morgan returned to his hometown of Huntington, WV where he served as Assistant Professor of Surgery with the Marshall University School of Medicine and received the Silver Scalpel award for excellence in resident teaching.

Dr. Morgan joined the Huntington Internal Medicine Group (HIMG) in 1999, adding surgical services to the multispecialty group. Prior to joining CCS, he was Chief of Surgery and medical director of the St. Mary’s Breast Center.
