Geertje van Mierlo

Geertje van Mierlo currently serves as a member of the Works Council and a scientific staff member at the Central Committee on Research Involving Human Subjects (CCMO) since April 2023. Prior to this role, Geertje was a senior advisor in food safety and laboratories at the Nederlandse Voedsel en Warenautoriteit (NVWA) from January 2022 to April 2023. Geertje has extensive experience at Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO.nl) as a senior staff member from January 2015 to December 2021, and at TNO Triskelion BV as a project manager in immunotoxicology from January 2011 to December 2014. Geertje also contributed as a project manager and member of the animal experimental committee at TNO from May 2007 to December 2014. Geertje began research at the Leiden University Medical Center from 1999 to 2007, holding positions as both a post-doctoral researcher focusing on regulatory T cell mechanisms and a PhD student with a thesis on tumor-specific CD8+ T cell responses under the supervision of Cornelis Melief. Geertje obtained a Master’s degree in Health Sciences, specializing in Biological Health Sciences from Maastricht University from 1995 to 1999.
