Leah Nahmias is an experienced professional in public humanities and community engagement. Currently serving as the Program Director at the Central Indiana Community Foundation, Leah's prior role as Director of Programs at Indiana Humanities involved significant initiatives such as the creation of a statewide reading program, a major commemorative project for the 19th Amendment, and securing substantial funding for various grants and community programs. Additional experience includes program officer roles at the New York Council for the Humanities and the development of veteran-focused literature programs. Leah's educational background includes an M.A. in Public Humanities from Brown University and a B.A. in History, Jewish Studies, and East Asian Languages and Cultures from Indiana University Bloomington.

Central Indiana Community Foundation is a public charity that serves as a catalyst for progress and a supporter of community improvement. The Indianapolis Foundation and Hamilton County Community Foundation, then known as Legacy Fund, joined in 1997 to create CICF. Although each foundation continues to serve its own communities, being a member of aregional foundation allows it to benefit from strategic alliances and resources.
