Max Best

Max retired from the Kenai Peninsula Borough after a twenty-five-year career, eight years as the Borough Surveyor and seventeen as the Planning Director. As Planning Director, he was responsible for three separate budgets and seven different divisions within the Planning Department; Land Management, Platting, Geographic Information Systems, River Center, Code Enforcement, Addressing and Planning. He was also the liaison for the Planning Commission to the Assembly.

Prior to his government career he worked twelve years for a local surveying and engineering company. Max is a licensed professional surveyor. He currently serves on the Alaska Society of Professional Surveyors Board and is the Kenai Chapter President. He is a lifetime member of the Soldotna Historical Society and a member of the Caribou Hills Cabin Hoppers club. Over the past thirty-five years he has coached youth hockey, soccer, and wrestling.
