Peter Schmalzried

Peter Schmalzried is an experienced climbing professional with a strong background in routesetting and team management. Currently serving as the Head Route Setter at Central Rock Climbing Gym since July 2015, Peter oversees a team of routesetters, ensures safety standards, and facilitates training and development for staff. With prior experience at Earth Treks Climbing Centers and a leadership role at Hoosier Heights, Peter has consistently demonstrated expertise in setting diverse climbing routes and instructing classes. Peter holds a degree in Health and Human Sciences with a focus on Health and Fitness from Purdue University, which underpins a commitment to safety and the promotion of climbing as an accessible activity for all.
