Karen Cleveland has a diverse work experience in communications and marketing roles. Karen currently serves as the Director of Strategic Initiatives at CAMH, where they oversee various responsibilities including external and internal communications, media relations, stakeholder relations, and brand management. Prior to this, Karen worked as the Director of Marketing and Communications at the Canadian Art Foundation, where they were responsible for all marketing initiatives and audience development strategies. Karen also has experience at BMO Financial Group as a Senior Manager of Corporate Communications and Sponsorship, and at St. Joseph Media as a Senior Manager of Marketing and Communications. Karen has additional experience at The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education, Veritas Communications, Environics Communications, and Rethink Breast Cancer.

Karen Cleveland has a diverse education history. In 2000-2003, they attended York University, where they pursued a double major in Women's Studies and Mass Communications. In 2020, they furthered their education by attending the San'yas Indigenous Cultural Safety program and the Harvard Business School Executive Education program, focusing on Communications and Influence and Persuasion in Leadership, respectively. Most recently, in 2023, they obtained a microcredential in Leading Through Policy Change from Toronto Metropolitan University, specifically from The Dais. Karen also holds a certification in Leading Through Policy Change from The Dais @ Toronto Metropolitan University.
