Soumendu Sen is a Policy Analyst at CYSD since May 2023, bringing a strong background in population studies and health economics. Previously, Soumendu served as a Project Officer at the International Institute for Population Sciences from April to September 2019, contributing to the UNICEF-funded project 'Multidimensional Poverty in Urban Maharashtra.' In 2017, Soumendu completed a summer internship at the Indian Statistical Institute in Kolkata, where data analysis of the NSS dataset was conducted. Education includes a PhD in Health Economics, expected in May 2024, M.Phil in Population Studies (2018-2019), and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Population Studies (2016-2018), all from the International Institute for Population Sciences, complemented by a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira (2013-2016).

CYSD
CYSD (Centre for Youth and Social Development) is a non-government and non-profit organisation established in 1982, working to improve the quality of lives of tribal, rural and urban poor in Odisha. Our primary focus is to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger, ensuring social inclusion and justice, good governance and citizen’s rights. We help communities identify and initiate development measures, provide training and capacity-building support to pro-poor organisations and individuals. We carry out research and advocacy in favour of the under privileged people especially the tribal population.
