Vathanan Kumarathurai

Vathanan Kumarathurai has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of IT and software development. Vathanan has held various leadership roles in different companies, including Centrica Energy, Nuuday, TDC Group, YouSee, Resolvd, Natural Foods ApS, Styrelsen for It og Læring, iPinion ApS, Futarque A/S, and SAXOTECH A/S.

In their most recent role as IT COO at Centrica Energy, Vathanan is responsible for leading the IT Operations department, as well as the Architecture and User Experience teams. Prior to this, they served as the Head of IT Operations and Architecture, where they led the Infrastructure & Operations, Cloud Platform & Operations, Information Security and Governance, and Service Desk teams.

At Nuuday, Vathanan was the Vice President and Head of Architecture, where they played a key role in designing and implementing a centralized IT organization with multiple divisions and 500+ employees. Vathanan also formed and led the Architecture department, which consisted of Enterprise Architecture, Technical Architecture, Solution Architecture, and Learning and Development divisions.

Before joining Nuuday, Vathanan worked at TDC Group as a Software Architect, leading the insourcing of the customer agent platform and mentoring a new in-house development team. At YouSee, they served as a Software Development Consultant, focusing on migrating mobile broadband customers and implementing an abstraction layer for a smooth transition to a new IT stack.

Vathanan also has experience as a Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Resolvd, where they defined the technology direction and co-developed websites. Vathanan has held various other software development and architectural roles at companies like Natural Foods ApS, Styrelsen for It og Læring, iPinion ApS, Futarque A/S, and SAXOTECH A/S.

Vathanan Kumarathurai completed their education as follows:

- From 1993 to 2000, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science and Psychology from Aalborg University.

- From 1990 to 1993, they attended Viborg Katedralskole and obtained a Higher General Examination (Studentereksamen) with a focus on General Upper Secondary Education, Mathematics line.

- From 1987 to 1990, they studied at Ørum fællesskole, where they completed the Leaving Examination of the Folkeskole, covering the curriculum of municipal primary and lower secondary school (7th - 9th).

Additionally, Vathanan Kumarathurai holds a Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) certification from Scrum.org, which was obtained in 2018.
