Ori Sargsyan has worked in the field of bioinformatics since 2000. From 2000 to 2006, they were a Research Assistant at the University of Southern California, where they developed statistical methods for making inference from DNA sequences and implemented them into computationally tractable computer programs. Ori then worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Harvard University from 2006 to 2010, where they developed statistical methods and models for analyzing DNA sequences from marine organisms and humans. From 2010 to 2014, they were a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Los Alamos National Laboratory, where they developed statistical methods and coalescent based recombination models for analyzing longitudinal samples of HIV DNA sequences from HIV-infected individuals, as well as computationally tractable algorithms and efficient computer programs for analyzing HIV DNA sequences. Finally, from 2014 to 2016, they were a Sr. Bioinformatics Scientist at Sirona Genomics Inc (Immucor, Inc.), and from 2016 to present they have been a Sr. Bioinformatics Scientist at Centrillion Biosciences, Inc., where they have designed and implemented a Wafer Request System Web App, developed tools for analyzing RNA-seq data, and developed algorithms and pipelines for designing probes and simulating synthesis for micro arrays.
Ori Sargsyan completed a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics (Computational Biology) from the University of Southern California in 2006, as well as a Master of Arts in Applied Mathematics from the same university in 2005.
