Ian Goepferd

Ian Goepferd has a diverse work experience in the energy industry. Ian started their career at NAES Corporation in 2000, where they held various technical and leadership roles, including Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager, and Project Engineer. In these positions, they managed Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and gained knowledge in renewable and thermal energy PPA types.

Ian then moved on to become the Operations Manager at NAES Corporation, where they were responsible for the operations and maintenance activities at power plants totaling 4500 MW. Ian consistently exceeded customer KPIs for safety, environmental compliance, and financial performance. Ian was quickly promoted through the Operations team career path and learned the value of relationships to achieve results through influence rather than authority.

After their time at NAES Corporation, Ian worked as the Director of Fleet Service and later as the General Manager of O&M Services at NAES Corporation. In these roles, they created and led teams responsible for startup activities at power plants, developed operational processes to ensure on-time and under-budget completion, and achieved steady profitability growth.

Ian then joined Onward Energy as the Director of Gas Plant Operations, where they provided dynamic leadership for the operational fleet and maximized availability, managed risk, and optimized commercial performance in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Most recently, Ian worked as a Renewable Energy Consultant at Orcas Energy Consulting, where they utilized their expertise to guide clients in the renewable energy sector.

Ian's accomplishments include growth and development of department managers, full P&L responsibility for a 60-person technical service organization, and achieving steady profitability growth. Ian has demonstrated strong leadership skills, a focus on safety and environmental compliance, and a track record of exceeding customer expectations.

Ian Goepferd studied Mechanical Engineering at Boston University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. Ian then furthered their education at the University of Washington, where they pursued a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
