Sergio Diaz de Garayo, PhD, currently serves as Technical Director for the STARDUST project since September 2017 and as Research Manager at CENER since February 2012, focusing on the energy transition of cities. Previously, Sergio was a founder partner at inBiot Monitoring, specializing in environmental quality monitoring in buildings, and collaborated with Ingeniería Sin Fronteras during a bicycle journey from Argentina to Costa Rica. Additional experience includes serving as Project Manager at CIRCE - Centro Tecnológico, and as an Assistant Professor in Thermodynamics at Universidad de Zaragoza. Sergio holds a Ph.D. in Engineering from Universidad Pública de Navarra, a Master's degree in Renewable Energy from Universidad de Zaragoza, and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universidad País Vasco.

The National Renewable Energy Centre (CENER) is a technology centre, specialised in applied research and in the development and promotion of renewable energies. It has excellent qualifications and recognised national and international prestige. The CENER-CIEMAT Foundation started its activity in 2002 and its Board of Trustees is comprised of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, Ciemat (Research Centre for Energy, Environment and Technology), the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, and the Government of Navarra. It currently provides services and performs research work in 6 areas: Wind, Solar Thermal and Solar Photovoltaic, Biomass, Energy in Buildings and Renewable Energy Grid Integration. CENER has cutting-edge technological infrastructures, with the most modern laboratories and facilities in the world. The Wind Turbine Test Laboratory (the only one of its kind in the world), the Experimental Wind Farm, the 2nd Generation Biofuel Centre and a Microgrid deserve a special mention.
