Dr. Paul Gessinger is a highly skilled applied physicist currently serving as a Staff Applied Physicist at CERN since June 2024, having previously held the position of Senior Applied Fellow from April 2021 to March 2024. With a strong background in high-performance software development for particle trajectory reconstruction and extensive experience in coordinating teams within the field, Dr. Gessinger has contributed significantly to future tracking detectors and new algorithms utilizing GPUs. Educationally, Dr. Gessinger earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Physics, a Master of Science in Physics, and a Bachelor of Science in Physics, all from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, culminating in a doctoral program completed in 2021. Prior to the transition to an applied physicist role, Dr. Gessinger accumulated experience as a freelance web developer and held various web development positions, including lead roles and internships.
