Steven Tipps has a long and diverse work experience spanning several companies. Steven began their career at Southern Company in 1976, where they served as a Junior Engineer and later as a Senior Engineer/Project Manager. Steven provided electrical engineering support for Unit 1 electrical systems and played a role in introducing outage planning software.
Tipps then transitioned to a managerial role as a Nuclear Safety & Compliance Manager, where they formed and staffed a department to provide compliance and regulatory support for the plant staff. Steven also oversaw root cause investigations and resolved emerging regulatory issues.
Steven later served as an Engineering Supervisor, overseeing system engineers and serving as an emergency responder in the Technical Support Center. Tipps also held the position of Licensing Supervisor, providing real-time licensing support to Operations and Engineering and serving as the principal interface with NRC inspectors.
In 2015, Tipps joined Certrec Corporation as a Senior Project Manager, providing direct regulatory support for nuclear plants and offering regulatory insights and support to clients. Steven also supported NRC inspections and served as an independent reviewer for operability determinations and regulatory positions.
Most recently, Steven Tipps worked at Captain's Casa as the Director and subsequently retired.
From 1970 to 1976, Steven Tipps attended Tennessee Technological University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering.
