Brigadier General (Retired) Dan MacIsaac, BEng, MDS, MPP, CD, has joined CFN after 34 years of service as a Combat Engineer officer in the Canadian Armed Forces during which he commanded at all levels domestically and on international operations.

Following regimental and base command, Dan served as Commander Joint Task Force Iraq from February to December 2017 where he was responsible the effectiveness of the Canadian conventional forces in Iraq, Kuwait and Qatar, and over Syria that were enhancing security and stability in the region.

Dan contributes operational expertise in defining and coordinating joint requirements gained while the Deputy Chief of Staff (Support) then Director General (Support) in the Canadian Joint Operations Command. There, he collaborated with international partners and led experts in logistics, communications, engineering, policing, health services and other specialist domains to open theatres of operation, and deploy, sustain, and recover Canadian military forces so they could successfully conduct international and domestic operations.

Dan also brings Departmental expertise gained while serving as the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Associate Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Environment from 2018 to 2022. Therein, he contributed to ADM(IE)’s work with diverse clients and partners to: support the Canadian Armed Forces; manage the federal government’s largest real property portfolio throughout its life cycle; support compliance with environmental obligations; and provide guidance and leadership in fulfilling Canada’s obligations and commitments to Indigenous peoples – while managing an annual budget of $2 billion and assets estimated to cost $26 billion to replace.

At CFN, Dan will support clients in understanding and pursuing Canadian Army and Special Operating Forces equipment procurement opportunities as well as utilizing his expertise in understanding joint requirements.
