John McVay has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. John started their career as an IT Intern at Experian in 1999. John then worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from 2000 to 2002. From 2002 to 2005, they served as a Senior Application Developer at Union Pacific Railroad, where they designed, implemented, and supported various systems.

In addition to their formal education, John McVay has obtained several certifications, including the QuickBooks Online Advanced Certification and QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisor from Intuit in 2019. John also holds the Certified Lay Servant certification from the United Methodist Church, obtained in 2012, and is a member of the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers since 2019.
