Andrew Smith

Andrew is an experienced CEO, CFO, and General Manager. Andrew’s industry experience ranges across software engineering, creative digital agency, television production, feature film production, and central government.

Andrew joined the Weta Group in the early stages of Lord of the Rings when the company was no more than a handful of people running the finance function at Weta Workshop. During his time at Weta Andrew was intimately involved in diversifying the Weta Group into retail, consumer goods, tourism, and intellectual property development.

Andrew has successfully raised external capital for many of the businesses he’s been involved with — either as equity finance or as joint venture funding. One of Andrew’s specialties is co-venturing for international projects. Andrew sits on a number of boards including as Deputy Chair of the Artificial Intelligence Forum of NZ. Andrew is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
