Leigh Anne Wenning

Leigh Anne Wenning is currently the superintendent at Champaign County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Leigh has over fifteen years of experience in human resources, with a focus on training and development, employee relations, performance management, and compensation and wage structure development.

Leigh Anne started their career in human resources at Miami County Board of Developmental Disabilities (Riverside) in January 2004. Leigh served as the Human Resources Director there for fourteen years, during which time they successfully completed the Superintendent Development Program curriculum in 2017.

During their time at Riverside, Leigh Anne made several notable achievements. Leigh developed and implemented a peer mentorship program to help new employees integrate into the organization more smoothly. Leigh also led the manager and supervisor team to provide development and growth opportunities to mid-level management employees. In addition, Leigh Anne created and implemented a successful technology-based orientation and training program to ensure high quality training compliance.

In preparation for the privatizing non-profit adult services provider's separation from the County Board in 2018, Leigh Anne provided HR assistance to them in establishing medical, dental, and fringe benefits for non-profit employees. Leigh also assisted this provider with establishing HR policies, procedures, and salary benefits for all employees.

Lastly, Leigh Anne developed a peer recognition system to reward employees who display Riverside's core values. This system has been successful in motivating employees to uphold the organization's values.

Leigh Anne Wenning began their educational career by obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Wright State University. Leigh then went on to obtain a Masters of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University. Leigh also has certification from HRCI in PHR and from the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities in Superintendent Certification.
