Cleusia Manuel is a research intern at Champalimaud Foundation since October 2021, focusing on the interactions between heart and brain in Drosophila during threat exposure. Previously, Cleusia completed an internship at Single Molecule Microbiology Laboratory (ITQB Nova) from October 2019 to October 2020, where the development and optimization of mRNA reporters were conducted to study the correlation between DNA transcription and protein expression in E. coli cells. Cleusia also gained experience in the imagiology area through an internship at Centro Hospitalar Cova da Beira in May 2018, where skills in ultrasound, TC, X-ray, and densitometry were developed. Educationally, Cleusia holds a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Research from NOVA Medical School and a Licentiate degree in Biomedical Sciences from Universidade da Beira Interior.
