Diane Smith is an experienced financial professional with a diverse background in various roles within the banking industry. Currently serving as a Financial Services Specialist at Champion Credit Union since November 2018, Diane has previously worked as a Commercial Loan Documentation Specialist at TruPoint Bank from December 2017 to August 2018. Diane's earlier tenure at HomeTrust Bank from May 2011 to December 2017 included multiple positions, such as Post Funding Specialist II, Loan Closing Specialist III, Loan Closing Specialist II, and Loan Servicing Specialist II. During a time when businesses were failing across the country, a small paper mill in Canton, North Carolina was thriving, leaving employees in need of a safe place to save their money. In 1932, seven employees of Champion Paper Fibre Company joined together to create Champion Savings and Loan, known today as Champion Credit Union. We offer the same products and services as a bank, but we are a not-for-profit banking cooperative, owned by our members, not by shareholders. In 2000, Champion Credit Union eagerly began offering their services to the public, now serving over 24,000 members in Haywood, Buncombe, Henderson, Jackson, Swain, Madison, Graham, Macon, and Transylvania Counties.
