Chris Barnes

National Research Volunteer at Change Grow Live

Chris Barnes is a Stigma Indicators Researcher at Liverpool John Moores University since December 2024, focusing on reducing professional stigma related to substance use across UK Local Authorities. Concurrently, Chris serves as a National Research Volunteer and has held multiple leadership roles at Change Grow Live since October 2018, including National Service User Involvement Lead and Coordinator, where Chris advanced service user feedback initiatives and supported veterans with substance use and criminal justice issues. Additionally, previous research experience includes leading a qualitative study on health screening in community drug and alcohol services. Chris has a diverse educational background, currently pursuing a Doctor of Science in Health/Medical Psychology at Liverpool John Moores University, alongside a Post Graduate Certificate in Systems Thinking in Practice from The Open University, a Master of Science in Health Psychology from Sheffield Hallam University, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from The Open University. Prior military service as a soldier in the UK Ministry of Defence spanned from October 2005 to November 2020.
