Alexis Etow has a diverse work experience in the legal and policy fields. They began their career as an Investigative Analyst at the New York County District Attorney's Office, where they conducted extensive case research for securities fraud and mortgage fraud cases. They then worked as a Legal Intern at the US Environmental Protection Agency, representing the Office of Criminal Enforcement in workgroups and researching various environmental regulations.

After that, they interned at Food & Water Watch, drafting a federal complaint challenging the legality of an open ocean aquaculture facility. They also served as a Summer Intern at the San Francisco City Attorney's Office, providing legal advice and working on zoning ordinances and housing proceedings.

At the California Department of Justice, Alexis worked as a Law Clerk, conducting legal research on electronic cigarette marketing, tobacco product sales, and health and safety code compliance. They also drafted motions and investigated statutory compliance.

Alexis then joined ChangeLab Solutions, where they held multiple roles. They started as a Law Fellow, drafting journal articles and fact sheets on healthy retail practices and affordable housing. They later became a Senior Attorney, developing policy strategies, drafting model legislation, and creating resources to improve community health. Currently, they serve as the Managing Director at ChangeLab Solutions.

Alexis Etow completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree at Princeton University from 2003 to 2007. Following that, they pursued a Doctor of Law (JD) degree at the American University Washington College of Law from 2010 to 2013.
