Peter Brown

Trustee at Changing Lives

Born in Liverpool in 1955, Peter has had a long successful career in the Probation Service and brings significant knowledge and experience of the Criminal Justice system to the Board.

Peter initially obtained a degree in Modern History and Politics at Liverpool University before going to work in the voluntary sector in a hostel for homeless men and offenders.

He obtained his C.Q.S.W. from University College Cardiff before beginning his career in the Probation Service.

He worked in London and Humberside before becoming Chief Officer in Northampton in 2005, moving to North Yorkshire two years later where he remained until his retirement in 2014. During this time he obtained an M.B.A. from the University of Hull.

Peter brings with him considerable experience of leading multi-agency working, having chaired Criminal Justice Boards, Drug Action Teams, and Safeguarding Boards during his career.

After retirement, Peter has been a Board Member and remains Chair of YACRO, a housing charity in York and is Board Member and Trustee of Re-evolution, a charity working with ex-prisoners in Humberside where he currently lives.

Peter is excited to be a part of Changing Lives, an expanding and very professional organisation with a clear purpose which is making a significant contribution to the communities of the North East and Yorkshire.
