Jim Coughlin started their work experience in 1983 as a laborer at Bob Coughlin Contractors. From 1988 to 1989, they worked as a Tool Room Machinist at Chapter 2, Inc. Jim then progressed through various roles at Chapter 2, Inc., including Tool Room Apprentice, Journeyman Tool Maker, Tool Designer/CAD Operator, and Tool Room Manager, before becoming Engineering Director in 2013. In their current role, they are responsible for direct customer contact, sales, and design ownership, and has witnessed continuous improvement and change within the organization throughout their 28 years of service.
Jim Coughlin attended Watertown High School from 1982 to 1985 and received a High School diploma. Jim then attended Madison Area Technical College from 1986 to 1988 and obtained an Associate's Degree in Machine Tool Technology/Machinist. From 1989 to 1992, they completed a Tool and Die Apprenticeship Training at Madison Area Technical College, earning a degree in Tool and Die Technology/Technician. In 1990, they also completed an Automatic Transmission Rebuild Course at Madison Area Technical College. In 2012, they took Solidworks I & II courses at Madison Area Technical College. In 2014, they completed MRA Leadership Training at Madison Area Technical College.
