Zehua Wei

Machine Learning Engineer (Medical Image Segmentation) at Character Bio

Zehua Wei has a strong background in data science and machine learning engineering. Zehua began their career as a NLP Data Science Intern at KeeSun Trading, where they worked on measuring sentiment scores of financial news articles using deep learning architectures. Zehua then joined Luxoft as a Data Scientist, followed by a role at Stackline as a Data Scientist focusing on text analytics.

Zehua's experience in medical image segmentation began at Bioprober Corporation, where they designed a lightweight convolutional neural network to extract obstetrical information from ultrasound images, resulting in significant time savings for training and inference. Zehua later joined Apulis Tech as a Data Scientist working on object detection.

Zehua's most recent position was at Microsoft as a Data and Machine Learning Engineer, where they developed object detection models and optimized them for different platforms. Zehua also played a key role in building an end-to-end automatic model test pipeline. As part of the Applied Sciences Group, they contributed to the development of a high-end camera product called "Surface Hub 2 smart camera," which utilized state-of-the-art algorithms for real-time auto-framing.

Currently, Zehua Wei holds the position of Machine Learning Engineer (Medical Image Segmentation) at Character Biosciences.

Zehua Wei's education history begins with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Applied Chemistry, which was obtained from Beihang University between the years 2009 and 2013. Following this, Zehua pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) in Computational Chemistry from the University of Washington from 2014 to 2016. Currently, Zehua is enrolled in the Unversity of the Cumberlands (Seattle Campus) where they are expected to complete an Executive Ph.D. in Information Technology between 2019 and 2023. Additionally, Zehua obtained a certification in HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) for Education and Research from the CITI Program in June 2023.
