Laurel Richardson has a diverse work experience. Laurel began their career as a Social Director and Small Group Facilitator at LES - Leadership Education Seminar in 2012, and continued in that role until 2013. From 2011 to 2013, Laurel served as a Command Team Adviser at 1st Maintenance Battalion. In 2012, they also became the Head Coach and started a chapter at Hope Elementary School for Girls on the Run. Laurel then joined CMTAssociation in 2014 as a CMTA Wilmington, NC Branch Leader (Volunteer), and remained in that role until 2017. From 2013 to 2018, they worked at Right Point Media as a Media Specialist and Client Relations professional. Finally, Laurel is currently serving as the Director of Community Outreach at the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association, starting in 2018.

Mission Our mission is to generate the resources to find a cure, to create awareness, and to improve the quality of life for those affected by Charcot-Marie-Tooth. Description Charcot-Marie-Tooth, or CMT, is the most commonly inherited peripheral neuropathy and is found worldwide among all races and ethnic groups. Discovered in 1886 by three physicians, Jean-Martin Charcot, Pierre Marie, and Howard Henry Tooth, CMT affects an estimated 2.8 million people. General Information The CMTA is a 501(C)(3)nonprofit organization founded in 1983 whose goals are patient support, public education, promotion of research and ultimately the treatment and cure of CMT. A voluntary Board of Directors governs the CMTA. The Medical Advisory Board of the CMTA consists of over 50 clinical and research medical professionals. This international group of men and women are noted CMT experts in neurology, genetics, orthopedic surgery, physiatry, physical therapy and podiatry. The CMTA currently has more than 20,000 patients and families, supportive friends, and medical professionals in its database.
