Ray Merry Souza has over a decade of experience in support and administrative roles. Since August 2010, Ray Merry Souza has been serving as a Support and Action Group Facilitator at the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association, contributing to the organization’s mission and providing valuable assistance to those affected by the condition. Prior to this, from October 2007 to June 2017, Ray Merry Souza worked as a Supervisor Assistant in the East Providence School District, where responsibilities included supporting educational initiatives and administrative tasks.

Mission Our mission is to generate the resources to find a cure, to create awareness, and to improve the quality of life for those affected by Charcot-Marie-Tooth. The time is now: Our vision is a world without CMT! Description Charcot-Marie-Tooth, or CMT, is the most commonly inherited peripheral neuropathy and is found worldwide among all races and ethnic groups. Discovered in 1886 by three physicians, Jean-Martin Charcot, Pierre Marie, and Howard Henry Tooth, CMT affects an estimated 2.8 million people. General Information The CMTA is a 501(C)(3)nonprofit organization founded in 1983 whose goals are patient support, public education, promotion of research and ultimately the treatment and cure of CMT. A voluntary Board of Directors governs the CMTA. The Medical Advisory Board of the CMTA consists of over 50 clinical and research medical professionals. This international group of men and women are noted CMT experts in neurology, genetics, orthopedic surgery, physiatry, physical therapy and podiatry. The CMTA currently has more than 20,000 patients and families, supportive friends, and medical professionals in its database.
