Tom Garncarz has a strong background in design and research. Tom is currently working as a Senior Product Designer at ChargeLab since April 2022. Before that, they served as a Lead UX Designer at athenahealth from June 2018 to April 2022. Prior to their role at athenahealth, they worked as a Design Development Program Associate at Capital One from July 2017 to June 2018. Tom also has research experience, with roles as an REU Fellow and an Undergraduate Researcher at Carnegie Mellon University from January 2015 to May 2017. Additionally, they worked as a Research Intern and Teaching Assistant during their time at Carnegie Mellon. Furthermore, they served as a Lead Research Intern at the University of California San Diego, where they designed online systems and conducted experiments to evaluate system design in order to improve student career prospects.
Tom Garncarz earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree from Carnegie Mellon University from 2013 to 2017. Their dual major was in Human Computer Interaction and Cognitive Science. Additionally, in June 2013, they obtained a Third Dan (3rd Degree Black Belt) certification from the World Taekwondo Federation.
