Mark Howland

Director of Marketing and Communications at Charity Bank

Mark Howland has held several roles in the financial services industry. From 2001 to 2003, they were the Marketing Assistant at Charities Aid Foundation, where they assisted with the development and implementation of the marketing plan for Investors in Society, the pilot fund that led to the creation of Charity Bank. In 2003, they joined Charity Bank as Director of Marketing and Communications. In this role, they led brand, social impact, events, marketing and communication activity to support the bank's growth and position it as the bank of choice for charities and social enterprises. Mark also created and executed an extensive stakeholder communication plan when Charity Bank ceased to be a charity. In 2006, they were promoted to Head of Marketing and Communications, where they were responsible for launching the first ever Charity ISA, and was highly commended at the UK Charity Awards for a marketing campaign that raised £25m of CITRA deposits in six months. Finally, in 2008, they were promoted to Head of Marketing, where they led Charity Bank through the process of reviewing, developing, articulating and communicating their revised Vision, Mission and Values.

Mark Howland has over 18 years of experience in the financial services industry. Mark began their career as the Marketing Assistant at Charities Aid Foundation from 2001 to 2003, before joining Charity Bank in 2003 as Director of Marketing and Communications. Mark was then promoted to Head of Marketing and Communications in 2006, and then to Head of Marketing in 2008. During their time at Charity Bank, they were responsible for leading brand, social impact, events, marketing and communication activity, launching the first ever Charity ISA, and creating and executing an extensive stakeholder communication plan. Mark was also highly commended at the UK Charity Awards for a marketing campaign that raised £25m of CITRA deposits in six months.

Mark Howland completed a Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing at The Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing (IDM) from 2018 to 2019. Mark also completed a Professional Postgraduate Diploma at CIM | The Chartered Institute of Marketing from 2005 to 2006, specializing in Marketing. Lastly, they obtained a 2:1 from the University of Plymouth between 1999 and 2003, studying Marketing.
