Ann Smolsky has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Ann began their career at First National Bank, where they worked as a Fraud Prevention specialist for nearly ten years. Ann then transitioned to the non-profit sector and joined the Nebraska AIDS Project as an Outreach Coordinator, providing harm reduction and HIV/STD testing services to homeless individuals. After six years, they moved on to the Metro Area Continuum of Care for the Homeless (MACCH), where they served as both a Program Coordinator and Assistant Director. In 2015, Ann joined the University of Nebraska Medical Center as a Healthcare Access Liaison. Ann'smost recent role is with Charles Drew Health Center, Inc., where they have held various positions including Reproductive Health Administrator, Enabling Services Director, and currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer.
Ann Smolsky attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha from 1997 to 2006, during which they did not earn a specific degree or focus on a particular field of study. In 2010, they enrolled at Doane University and obtained a Master of Arts in Counseling, with a specialization in LMHP/LDAC, completing their studies in 2013. Ann is currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Critical & Creative Thinking at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, expected to be completed from 2020 to 2022.

Charles Drew Health Center, Inc. (CDHC) was incorporated as a not-for-profit federally-qualified community health center in 1983. Since then, Charles Drew Health Center’s service delivery model has expanded and grown based in large measure on the expressed needs of patients, target area residents, and local collaborative partners through surveys, needs assessments, consumer forums and focus groups, and the Health Center’s 51% majority consumer governing board. Beyond the provision of primary health care for the five life cycles (prenatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric), CDHC’s target population has been instrumental in advocating for the inclusion, expansion and/or addition of the following health care programs and services: Optometry; cardiology; obstetrics; STI testing, counseling, treatment and partner notification; HIV testing and counseling; breast and cervical cancer screening; fitness and nutrition counseling and support; in-house pharmacy services; family dentistry; patient advocacy; disabilities assistance; mental health services; interpreter services; the Omaha Healthy Start, infant mortality reduction program; Father’s For a Lifetime - responsible male involvement initiative; the expansion of the Health Center’s homeless health care program. True to its mission, Charles Drew Health Center seeks to provide quality comprehensive health care in a manner that acknowledges the dignity of the individual, the strength of the family and the supportive network of the community.
