Jay Johnson

Jay Johnson is a seasoned legal professional currently serving as the Managing Director and Deputy Chief Counsel at Charles Schwab since September 2021. In addition to this role, Jay is an Adjunct Professor at SMU Dedman School of Law, a position held since January 2016. Previously, Jay held the position of Partner at Jones Day from July 2013 to September 2021 and served as an Assistant United States Attorney at the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Texas from January 2009 to July 2013. Early in the career, Jay worked as an Associate at Covington & Burling LLP and completed clerkships with The United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and The United States District Court for the District of Kansas. Academically, Jay holds an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management, a Juris Doctor with High Distinction from the University of Iowa College of Law, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with Honors from Kansas State University.
