Brianna Simmons is an experienced communications professional currently serving as the Social Media Coordinator for the Charleston Police Department since October 2021. Prior to this role, Brianna worked as a Producer at WCIV from February 2018 to October 2021 and as a Campaign Social Media Advisor for Congressman James Clyburn from July 2016 to September 2017, where responsibilities included managing social media platforms to foster audience engagement during the campaign. Earlier experience includes roles such as Communications Intern and Reporter at the South Carolina State University Office of University Relations, Production Intern at WSSB 90.3 Radio Station, PIO/Media Relations Intern for Charleston County Federal Government, and News Room Intern at WCSC-TV Live 5 News. The Charleston Police Department is the largest municipal police department in West Virginia. Our staff consist of 183 sworn personnel and 21 civilian employees. Police service is provided to a community of over 50,000 residents with a coverage area of 33.3 square miles. The estimated daytime population of the city is about 250,000 residents, workers, and visitors to the Capital city. In addition, 3 major interstates (I-64, I-77 and I-79) converge and pass through Charleston. Evening population raises with social activities and special events.
