James LaBar is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in economic and community development. Currently serving as the Chief Economic and Community Development Officer for Charlotte Center City Partners since September 2019, LaBar focuses on enhancing the vibrancy and inclusivity of Charlotte's urban center. Prior to this role, LaBar held the position of Regional Solutions Director and Policy Advisor for Housing, Economy, and Jobs in the Governor's Office of Oregon from August 2015 to August 2019, where responsibilities included legislative recommendations and state business transactions. The career also includes a significant tenure at Salt River Project as Manager of Strategic Engagement, emphasizing government relations from July 2002 to January 2015. LaBar's educational background features a Ph.D. candidacy in Public/Applied History from Arizona State University, an M.A. from the University of West Florida, and a Bachelor's degree in History from the University of Cincinnati.
