Bill Mulcahy

Head of Lower School at CHARLOTTE COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL

Bill joined Country Day as the head of Lower School in 2018. Previously, he served as head of Lower School at Fairfield Country Day, a K–9 boys' school in Connecticut. While at Fairfield, Bill brought a renewed strength and focus to the math curriculum, co-chaired a strategic planning committee on educational trends and innovation, taught computer programming, and piloted a baseline assessment test to measure non-cognitive skill development in conjunction with Harvard professors.

Prior experience includes service at Langley School, a co-ed K–8 school in Virginia, where Bill served as Social Studies Department chair and third-grade teacher. In addition to instruction, mentoring, and curriculum development, Bill gained valuable experience serving on the Admissions and Fundraising Committees. He began his career in education at Saint Anne's School of Annapolis as a lead teacher to third-grade girls and boys.
