G. Leonard Starnes

G. Leonard Starnes, II has extensive experience in educational leadership, currently serving as the School Principal for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools since March 2022. Prior to this role, Starnes was the Founding Head of Schools at KIPP North Carolina Public Schools from July 2021 to March 2022 and a School Principal within Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools from July 2019 to July 2021. Before that, Starnes held the position of School Principal at Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools from July 2017 to June 2019. Starnes also contributed to higher education as a Professor at Northern Virginia Community College from August 2012 to June 2019. Starnes holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Teacher Education from Virginia Union University and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Regent University.
