Shawn Cowley

Shawn Cowley is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in military leadership and educational roles. Currently serving as the Director at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools JROTC since September 2010, Shawn holds previous positions as Deputy Director and Educator, focusing on the Troops to Teachers Program and JROTC instruction. Prior experience includes serving as a Lieutenant Colonel and Professor of Military Science at Santa Clara University, overseeing ROTC cadets from multiple institutions. Shawn's military career spans over 19 years in the US Army, with significant roles such as Corps Aviation Planner during deployments in Iraq, Operations Officer, and Company Commander. Educational qualifications include a current Master’s degree in School Administration, as well as degrees in Military Command and Staff Administration and Adult & Occupational Education from prestigious institutions including the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and Kansas State University, complemented by a Bachelor's degree in Management from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
