Tonya L. Coons

Tonya L. Coons, Ph.D., is an experienced professional educator and teacher coach currently with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools since February 2016, specializing in student assessment and personalized learning in mathematics. Previously, Tonya served as a curriculum developer for the South Carolina Department of Education, focusing on the needs of new teachers and diverse student populations. With a significant tenure at Bibb County School District, Tonya held various leadership roles, including Director of K12 Gifted/Advanced Academics/ESOL, where responsibilities included curriculum development, staff supervision, and program implementation.
