Tonya Williams

Tonya Williams currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent of School Performance for Elementary Area A at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, where responsibilities include coaching and supervising 24 principals in diverse educational settings. Previously, Tonya held the position of Interim Learning Community Superintendent, overseeing 17 schools within the West Learning Community. Prior to this, Tonya was the Executive Director of the West Learning Community at Cabarrus County Schools from June 2007 to August 2023, along with experience as a school principal and assistant principal in the same district. Tonya's career began at Mooresville Graded School District as an elementary teacher, and education credentials include a Master of School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from Gardner-Webb University, and a K-6 Teaching Certification from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Additionally, Tonya earned a degree in Communication Disorders from Appalachian State University.
